Long awaited KDE Connect is now available for iPhone (iOS >= 15). Here are the details. If you are one of the KDE Connect fan, and was waiting for iPhone+KDE Plasma integration, then good news for you. The KDE Team announced that the popular KDE Connect applications is now available as iPhone app. But there’s a catch.
Download KDE Connect for Firefox. Allows sharing pages, videos, and images from your browser to KDE Connect devices. This extension relies on a Native Messaging Host to communicate with KDE Connect devices. Mconnect is a KDE Connect protocol implementation in Vala/C available via github.com. It doesn't need KDE libraries and comes with a client that lets you easily share files from the command line with e.g. By default on Debian, KDE uses a single-click to open files and folders. This is useful on tablets and other touchscreen devices but may be undesirable on desktops. On older versions of KDE Plasma, the setting for this can be found with the rest of your mouse settings (where you configure acceleration, speed, etc.)
I installed kde on both my phone and laptop. Both devices were connected to someone else's hotspot. I was able to pair, use the app for a little while but then it would stop working. The android app would say paired device not reachable while the windows app would still show that the phone is connected. Nothing can be sent between the devices
With the app open on your phone, you should see a list of available devices to connect to. Select the one you want and click on the Request pairing button. You should see a notification pop-up on your computer. Click Accept in the notification. I have trouble to activate wired ethernet in KDE. Wirless is fine. Before wire connection worked fine until I installed KDE. I checked that when I switch off wirless and back to console to: # sudo systemctl enable dhcpcd@.service. # sudo systemctl start dhcpcd@.service. it's working.
Bugs always happen and we need to fix them. KDE Connect has many features and we can add more. Both of these can happen with a little help from you. You can file bugs and new feature requests on our Bugzilla. You may not get an immediate response for feature requests, but it may get picked up in the future.
We can't add a dependency on kwin, since 1. it's unclear whether the user actually uses the systemd units to start KDE (even though it's the default now) and 2. there is no kde.service, but two seperate service files plasma-kde_x11.service and plasma-kde_wayland.service.
File Transfer. KDE Connect is more than just a file transfer app. But for me, sharing videos and pictures is a priority. Though the iOS version is in Beta, transferring files is easy and stable.
