RichD. Your best bet is to spray some WD-40 on a rag and wipe down the track with that. Do not spray the WD-40 directly on the track. Besides removing rubber dust and other gunk the WD-40 will help to keep the rails from rusting. Regular plastic track is made of ABS, which is a type of styrene. Then lightly coat just the bit of rubber that meets with the rim - i.e. don't let any get under, between the tyre and rim. It should keep the tyre tight on the wheel and allow you to true them and best of all they're a lot easier to get off again. ABBO. Like.
As said before Pleby's is good for the track. Another good addition is to use thin adhesive copper tape over the metal rails, this improves conductivity around the track. It can be got from Ebay
So, Im hoping that this thread will allow everyone to submit some new designs and specifically to meet the following requirements. 1. The track must fit within an 8x4 or more specifically a 2440mm x 1220mm board. 2. It must be made with Scalextric 1:32 track. Take a pencil, or a piece of 6mm dowel, or any long, thin cylindrical object of about that size. Place it under the track piece, on a table top or any flat surface, and roll the track piece over it applying gentle downwards pressure to either side. Roll it back and forth many times, be patient.
